Kitchener – A leading manufacturer for the aerospace industry, approached BizLink to help them with the design of a new cable assembly for their sand blaster product, which take off tough coatings and seals rivets on the outside of planes (aeronautics). The customer was currently using a large OD soft PVC tube, and pulling 4 smaller tubes and 2 ground wires through the larger tube, with the assistance of soap and water to help pull the tubes through. This process was time consuming and labour intensive and the result did not have the professional look that the customer was looking for. Our proposal was to design a custom cable with an extruded PVC jacket to house the tubes and ground wires and use fillers to create a fully custom professional round cable.
The sales and engineering team worked closely with the customer to gather the background information needed to understand the issues they were having. The engineering team got to work right away to provide a new design quickly, advising the customer along the way of the design solutions that would provide them with the desired, perfectly round appearance while also meeting the electrical needs.
